Florence captured Lisa’s imagination while she was taking a required architectural history class for her Bachelor of Architecture. She felt immediately at home the first time she visited and returned every year, studying the art, architecture and language between visits. Her dream of living in Florence finally came true during a research trip for a book about the piazzas, when the four-month stay serendipitously stretched into a four-year sojourn. In May 2008, The Piazzas of Florence was published by Murdoch Books. Along with her daughter, Lisa continues to live in Florence, listening for whispers of history as she gathers inspiration for her creative work.

Sitting in Piazza della Signoria: My natural inclination when I go to Piazza della Signoria is to find a spot somewhere around the edge and look into the middle of the piazza, which is like a big container for people and energy.
Moments in Piazza Santo Spirito: I look back on my earlier visits to Piazza Santo Spirito with a mixture of affection and nostalgia.
